The Specialty Hospital has successfully performed its first Mitral Clip procedure in the Cardiac Catheterization Unit. The minimally invasive intervention was conducted to treat a patient suffering from severe mitral valve prolapse and advanced heart failure, making the patient unsuitable for conventional open-heart surgery.
The procedure was carried out using specialized Mitral Clip devices to repair the mitral valve without the need for surgery. Thanks to the expertise of the hospital’s distinguished medical team, the procedure was completed successfully under the supervision of Dr. Fadi Al-Qaisi, Consultant in Cardiovascular Diseases, and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Abbadi, Consultant in Cardiology, along with the anesthesia team and the cardiac catheterization staff, who demonstrated exceptional professionalism during this complex and delicate procedure.
The severe mitral regurgitation was effectively controlled, significantly improving the patient’s condition without surgical intervention.
It is worth noting that the Catheterization Unit at the Specialty Hospital is one of the most advanced in the private sector and is equipped with three state-of-the-art catheterization devices—the latest in the region.
