The mission of the laboratory and pathology department is to provide excellent quality and cost effective clinical laboratory results within a reasonable turnaround time (TAT) to all of our patients and clients. Our laboratory was the first lab to be accredited by ISO 15189 which is a special ISO for laboratories to ensure the highest standards of quality, technical competencies and reliable results. Our quality control and standardization programs exceed higher level of testing, proficiency, standardization and auditors requirement. We are continuously improving all processes and services that support patient care. We combine the efficiency of automation and learn principle to simplify and streamline processes. The Specialty Hospital laboratory is considered as referral laboratory working around the clock to serve other laboratories in and even outside Jordan.
Our laboratory performs a wide variety of Diagnostic tests in different specialized sections:
Lab serves patients from clinics, hospitalized patient, ER and receives samples from referral lab.
This section is run by highly qualified team, which provides comprehensive, diagnostic.Consultation and infection control services and provides complete range of organisms identification, susceptibility testing for bacteria and some other fungi using different automated equipments.
In this large section all chemistry tests and routine are performed as well as hormones , tumor markers and the therapeutic drugs monitoring all are done using modern automated equipment and in record time.
Study of blood for blood morphology and blood diseases, CBC count and classify blood cells into different categories. Platelets function tests, drugs resistance (plavix and aspirin) and flowcytometry which is useful foridentifying leukemia and lymphomas of mature B&T cells-identifying acute leukemia and distinguishing lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphomas from acute myeloid leukemia.
Blood typing and blood bank services are also performed in this section.
Immunology evaluates the bodys immune response through the detection of antibodies to bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses and antibodies produced against body substances (autoimmunity).Allergy diagnsosis, cellular immunology and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, SLE (Lupus), Immunodificiencies, infectious disease.
Establish a good service in the diagnosis of most tissue and pathological samples to help physicians in diagnosis to provide the best treatment for the patients. There are two main subdivisions within this section; the first is histopathology which involves the examination of sampled whole tissue under the microscope. This is often aided by the use of special staining techniques and other associated tests.
The second subdivision is cytopathology (Cytology) which is the examination of single cells, the most common cytology is the cervical smear. Looking for abnormal cells (cancer), cytologic specimens (e.g. tissue and body fluids), Histology surgical specimens, frozen sections biopsies, bone marrow studies.
