Hematology & Oncology Surgery

At The Specialty Hospital, the Oncology Surgery Department delivers comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care through a highly integrated multidisciplinary approach. Our team consists of experienced surgical oncologists working closely with medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, interventional radiologists, and radiation oncologists to ensure optimal, evidence-based treatment strategies tailored to each patient.

Multidisciplinary Approach

Effective cancer management relies on seamless collaboration across specialties. Our team actively coordinates care to optimize outcomes at every stage:

  • Joint evaluation with radiology and medical oncology teams to determine the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy, improving resectability and surgical outcomes
  • Careful assessment of indications for adjuvant therapy following surgery.
  • Preoperative planning in collaboration with radiologists to enhance surgical precision and optimize resection margins

Close coordination with pathologists to ensure accurate diagnosis, staging, and quality assurance of surgical procedures (e.g., circumferential resection margin assessment in Total Mesorectal Excision – TME)

Advanced Diagnostic Imaging

Our Radiology Department is equipped with state-of-the-art imaging technologies that provide precise pre and postoperative assessment of tumor characteristics, including size, location, and extent of spread:

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Computed Tomography (CT Scan)
  • Ultrasound Imaging

Advanced Surgical Techniques

The department continuously adopts the latest surgical innovations to improve outcomes and patient recovery:

  • Minimally invasive (laparoscopic) cancer surgery
  • Advanced oncologic techniques such as Total Mesorectal Excision (TME)
  • Sentinel lymph node biopsy for accurate staging
  • Oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery, including breast reconstruction, head and neck reconstruction, and bladder replacement techniques
  • Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programs to accelerate recovery and reduce complications
