In June 2001, the Center for Ophthalmology was inaugurated under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Raad Bin Zaid. The latest generation of Aximim laser devices was introduced by the German company SchwindEsiris, which is one of the latest in technology in laser sight correction devices.
In 2002, eye correction devices were purchased with the latest German medical technologyand the vision correction is done by the Corneal Wave Front (O.R.K).
In 2005, a device was purchased for the latest laser sight correction techniques, using a process of correction by Total Wave Front.
Then the laser vision correction procedures were updated in 2009 with the latest generation of German laser devices, which gives the accuracy and safety of the eye laser operations in the presence of the online Pachymetry device, this device shows the doctor the remaining thickness of the cornea during the process.
In 2013, the latest laser sight correction device, the Amaris750 from Schwind, was purchased. The device is characterized by its high speed correction, accuracy and speed (EYE Tracker), which contains 6 dimensions to follow the eye.The introduction of this device to the center of medicine and eye surgery added to the center new technologies.
Vision correction operations, and operations done using this device include:
1. Aspheric Lasik
This technique deals with the eye in its existing form, which takes into account the eye brow when striking the laser and not as it was previously dealing with the eye as flat, and this gives more precision in the treatment of visual disorders.
2. Correction of the surface of the cornea (O.R.K):
Also called corneal wave front, after conducting the certain procedures for the patient, the mylopia, hypermetropia, or astigmatism is inserted into the picture that is taken for the patient, then all the information is stored on the memory, after that the information is transmitted to the laser device through the memory and the cornea is cured using laser on the areas that have vision impairments only not the entire cornea like before
3. Operation Total Wave Front:
It has the same steps as (o.R.K. ) but this also device takes into consideration any abnormalities located behind the cornea and corrects them.
4. Operation Presby MAX:
A new technique has been found for patients with visual impairment due to long sighted reading, which are patients over the age of fourty years. With this technique, patients suffering from this problem ends.
5. Trans P.R.K Operation:
It is a new technique to treat visual disorders instead of PRK or what is known as laser, where the doctor was previously scraping the surface of the cornea and then the doctor treats the surface of the cornea by laser which causes pain for the patient after the operation, but with this technique, the pain is reduced to more than 80%, where, the device itself works as a laser skimming device, and then the doctor starts the treatment for the surface of the cornea.
